In large part, we created this grant program to help educators boost equity and access for any of their underserved students and we’ve loved how it’s evolved into one of the easiest technology grants for teachers to apply for. The program is open to all educators from classroom teachers and district administrators to technology directors, librarians, and makerspace leaders.
STEM includes a massive area of content and subjects, making it possible for educational leaders to implement any number of strategies, technology tools, and ideas for creating STEM learning that’s suited for their particular students. And, one of those areas is early childhood STEAM—the relevant, hands-on learning experiences that students can have early in their lives.

Both STEAM tools combine various elements of engineering and coding in what they offer to students. These robots are buildable, too, which enables students to explore engineering as they work to figure out how to build the bots correctly. Once they’re built, children can work on programming them whether they’re at home or in the classroom.
It can be hard to convince teachers (let alone students) to use some of their summer vacation to improve their academic skills. This is, of course, understandable since they spend the rest of the year doing just that. Making summer learning fun, however, is a fairly reasonable compromise so that both educators and their students aren’t wasting time.
As teachers, however, we know you’re always thinking about what you can do to improve your classrooms and offer your students a more exciting and relevant learning experience in the fall. Naturally, our first suggestion is to add new EdTech and STEAM tools. But, we know that it’s tough for many teachers to work these kinds of things in.

It’s widely-accepted that robotics education is critical to building 21st century STEM skills because it combines so many essential disciplines depending on what each specific robot can do. I bring up my own history with robotics because it’s very relevant to this week’s post on the Meccano Meccanoid G15KS, one of the more complex STEM robots.
